Our Story: Flute and Music Academy (FAMA)

Before FAMA
Before 2012, four music professionals: a performer, educator, repair technician, and band conductor, kept hearing the same frustration from students: quality woodwind education, instrument retail, and repair services were scattered and hard to access in one place.

They saw a gap in Singapore’s music landscape.
So they brought together leading woodwind artists, teachers, technicians, and suppliers to create something different—a dedicated space focused entirely on woodwinds.In August 2012, Flute and Music Academy (FAMA) was born.

FAMA's Values
As Singapore’s first specialised woodwind music school, FAMA is built on a simple belief: students learn best when they are supported by the right people, tools, and environment.We carefully select our teachers from among:

• Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) musicians

• MOE-trained educators

• Music graduates and experienced performers

Our consistent ABRSM results—where the vast majority (98%) of students achieve Merits and Distinctions.Guided by our core values of integrity, respect, expertise, and excellence, we aim not just to teach music, but to nurture confident musicians and lifelong music lovers.

Making Learning Woodwinds Accessible
Our structured and affordable rental scheme allows students to begin learning without the high upfront cost of purchasing an instrument. With the right support from the start, students can focus on what matters most: enjoying the learning process.

Since 2015, we have developed our own instrument lines: Royale and MGX.These instruments are designed to offer exceptional value, with specifications that rival higher-priced brands. Each model is tested and approved by experienced woodwind educators and performers before reaching our students.The result: reliable, high-quality instruments that support learning at every stage.
